3-D Imagery without Glasses!

A guy has been experimenting with 3-D imagery for the web where you don’t need 3-D glasses to view it. He animates the right and left images back and forth to produce the effect. Extra cool! Check it out.

Keeping It Real

In order to maintain my interest and yours in this busy time, I may post some stuff that’s more of a personal nature. I want to be able to post more often, so if this site migrates toward more of a personal blog space, so be it.

It’s painful just waiting for the inevitable baby birth. Someone gave us one of these to analyze our baby’s crying. Maybe I should take the time to figure it out now…need to keep busy.

Is that website up?

In my travels I’ve often needed to know if one of my websites was really down or not. Alertra provides a “spot check” tool to check a site from multiple locations around the world to see current server status.
Give it a try.

Weather.gov update

I posted some time ago about the benefits of using Weather.gov. I still think there are advantages to using that site, but there are a couple of downsides I’ve observed. First, the site is down sometimes. In the age where we have gotten used to almost no downtime for popular sites, to [...]

Twix White Chocolate

I just discovered these and had one today. Very cool. I’m really into white chocolate products. I know, way off topic, but hey, you can deal…

InfoSpace Reinvented

Way back in the day, I used InfoSpace for yellow page and special searches. I’ve stumbled across their latest application, trying to reinvent the way you search for local stuff.

What’s unique are the double search fields - just “Who or What” and “Where.” Simple, yet I haven’t seen this kind of interface for [...]

Ask.com update

I’ve been using Ask.com for a couple more weeks after my original post. I’m still fairly impressed with the speed and accuracy of most search results. I’m still finding that Google isn’t the only definitive search engine I need. In fact, I’ve been disappointed with some searches on Google - particularly those [...]

Stroller for Nerds

This is my stroller, the Maclaren Techno XT. It’s the sleek little stroller with even a geeky name. I’m not a fan of big bulky strollers that take up more than their share of the sidewalk. This one fits the bill…and the sidewalk.

The first kind of off-topic baby gizmo…

I should mention that I have a bouncing baby due to arrive any day now. It’s exciting but nerve-racking. I expect I’ll have a few posts here related to baby gizmos, as well as trying to run a life with a new baby. You’ve been warned.
Miele Powerhouse S184 Vacuum

This really is a great vacuum by Miele. I’ve been using it for about a year and a half, so I’ve put it through its paces. There’s serious HEPA filtration on this vac, which is great, and at the same time it’s very small and lightweight. Other makers of high filtration vacs [...]

Ask.com: a Google challenger?

I’ve been trying out the “new” Ask.com for the past few days. This was formerly Ask Jeeves, but Jeeves was “fired” a couple weeks ago. Best wishes, Jeeves. Ask.com been relaunched in a simple, Google-style interface with much of the same functionality as Google.
