Ask.com update
I’ve been using Ask.com for a couple more weeks after my original post. I’m still fairly impressed with the speed and accuracy of most search results. I’m still finding that Google isn’t the only definitive search engine I need. In fact, I’ve been disappointed with some searches on Google - particularly those searching for a phrase with common words in it. It’s this type of search that Ask.com can help with, providing that additional set of results when you need it. Check it out sometime.

Search engines have been a hot topic with me since I first went online 11 years ago. It never ceases to amaze me how obscure gimmick sites like iwon.com will turn up info that others won’t produce. For my searches, I haven’t found ask.com to be a particular boon, but for important research projects I’ll try mamma (a meta-search engine), iwon, and northern light. The moral of the story is there will probably never be a single search engine for every need. My reason for Googling? It’s the most visually streamlined. Heck, if I really thought about it, it might even boil down to the font type…
